It's Not Too Late To Register!

The 2016 Design-Build for Water/Wastewater Conference, hosted by DBIA, AWWA, WEF and WDBC, is the only national conference dedicated to enhancing the use and delivery of design-build in the water and wastewater sector. Located at the Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C., this valuable education program features industry experts with cutting-edge information.

Barbara Jackson, Ph.D., DBIA, from the University of Denver, will discuss the intriguing concept of adaptive intelligence.

Charlotte, NC Water Managers, Barry Gullet, P.E., Director and William “Kit” Eller, P.E., will describe which delivery method they decided to use design-build for in their first major municipal project, the McAlpine Creek WWMF Effluent Filter Expansion Project.

And, there is also a special session about How Owners Decide When to Use Design-Build Contracting for Their Water/Wastewater Projects being led by Stephen Gates, P.E., (Brown and Caldwell) and William "BJ" Christman (Crowder Construction). This program features an open audience discussion on the various procurement methods available for collaborative delivery projects.

A What Is The Role of an Owner's Advisor in Collaborative-Delivery Projects: The Do's & Don'ts

Join WDBC members Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., for an interactive discussion among owners and practitioners as to what owners should expect from firms who provide the management services of an Owner's Advisor. Practitioners will also share their view point as to the support they can provide to utilities and agencies that help them achieve their goal of a successful project while staying on schedule and within budget.

Presenters David Kinchen (Black & Veatch), William Hixon (Arcadis), Phil Sudol (Carollo), and Mike Cecil (Haskell) will discuss the different roles and tasks associated with DBIA best practices in this interactive session.

What’s So Progressive about Progressive Design-Build? A Message From Leofwin Clark

It’s political season and the news is filled with commentary on liberals and conservatives and... progressives. So what exactly is so progressive about progressive design-build?

Well, it's no surprise, but the label for this valuable delivery method doesn’t have any political meaning! Instead, it’s all about evolving the design-build process to meet the needs of owners that could not use – or preferred not to use – fixed price design-build.
