Drought Prevention Water Design-Build Project - In the News!

There is no greater evidence of the increasing use of design-build as the preferred project delivery method – than to learn about the projects themselves and why the agencies elected to use this delivery method. As an example, the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) also has a unique aquifer recharge project that WDBC member firm, Parsons and its joint venture partner worked to develop as the first phase of the critical Brackish Groundwater Desalinataion (BDG) Program.

Input Needed for the 2016 Municipal Water and Wastewater Design-Build Handbook

WDBC has begun the process to update the 3rd Edition of the Municipal Water and Wastewater Design-Build Handbook and wants to hear from industry owners and practitioners on topics you’ve encountered and would like addressed. The 2016 update will include new chapters on Financing and Contract Management, as well as the new guidance on Fixed-Priced DB Procurement. We need to know what you believe is valuable, or needs to be included. Here’s how you can provide comments. Reminder - Call for Papers for the 2016 DBIA Water/Wastewater Conference

Do you have a project to share?

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), in association with American Water Works Association (AWWA), Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the Water Design-Build Council (WDBC) is seeking presentations for the 2016 Design-Build for Water/Wastewater Conference, which will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina from April 20-22, 2016.

The Conference provides a platform for experienced, knowledgeable, and well-spoken industry experts to highlight best practices in design-build project delivery in the water and wastewater sector, and to discuss the merits of it as a means to achieve exceptional project outcomes.

Constructing to Commissioning - Making the Transition a Smooth Process

Owners that undertake major capital improvement projects using a design-build implementation model spend significant time and resources upfront during the procurement, planning, and development stages of the project to ensure that the most qualified team is selected and that key project criteria are established.

Strictly focusing on the design and construction requirements can be time consuming, and project teams tend to overlook important details such as how to transition smoothly from construction to operational readiness.
