AECOM Brings East Providence, RI's Wastewater treatment Plant to Compliance
East Providence, Rhode Island, the fifth largest city in the state with a population of 47,037, required critical improvements to its 8.9 mgd wastewater treatment plant, collection and pumping systems to bring it into regulatory compliance and protect water quality in Narragansett Bay, New England’s largest and environmentally, mutually-sensitive estuary. Learn about the innovative features the AECOM team used to accomplish this sensitive design-build project.
WDBC Questions Foreign Time And Cost Performance Of Design-Build Projects Study
Quite a buzz in the water design-build industry erupted last week from an ENR opinion page report published on January 26 regarding findings from a team of university researchers in China and Australia. Their report, entitled Time and Cost Performance of Design-Build Projects, stated that over half of design-build projects analyzed ran over budget.
After reading it a few times, I found the statements analogous to a "Trump twitter blast," in that there is a lot of hype around what is an attention-grabbing headline, but factual data is still missing in which to state a valid claim. DBIA Executive Director Lisa Washington was absolutely on target to challenge the validity of the researchers reported data and the missing information needed to give the full story.
Have you contacted WDBC to schedule an education and training session on preparing, procuring, and managing a design-build or CMAR delivery project?

A Warm Welcome to WDBC’s 2016 Advisor Members
Joining the WDBC as 2016 Advisor Group members are industry firms the Foley Company, Goodwin Brothers, PC Construction, UCI, and Ulliman Schutte. The WDBC Advisor Group is an affiliated member “category” for those “non-engineering” firms engaged with engineering companies in some capacity in the water design-build sector. WDBC’s purpose in creating this category is to provide a means for WDBC members to both further engage and actively work with affiliated businesses in the pursuit of achieving best practices require for the design-build delivery of water and wastewater systems.
