Black & Veatch Celebrates 100 Years

Water Design-Build Council member Black & Veatch celebrated its centennial birthday on Thursday, the 13th of August.

The company marked its 100th year with celebrations around the world, beginning in Melbourne, Australia and coming to a close in San Francisco. However, the largest celebration was held at the company's headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas, where hundreds of employees - present and past - united to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Congratulations to the entire Black & Veatch company for a tremendous achievement of work dedicated to environmental protections. We look forward to conveying these messages personally and thank you for hosting WDBC's September 10th Board Meeting in Overland Park.

Brown and Caldwell Design-Build Team Lauded for Support

Cincinatti's Oakley Separation Sewer Project is being recognized in the Water/Wastewater category for exemplary collaboration and integration with the design-build project delivery method, and is nominated for the DBIA's National Award of Excellence.

The Oakley Sewer Station is being viewed as a prototype, where lessons learned will help to guide future projects. And at the helm was Brown and Caldwell, whose design-build team provided services such as procurement assistance through the development phases, technical assistance during contractor selection and negotiation, and design and contractor oversight during construction.

Project Spotlight: CDM Smith's Design-Build Success

CDM Smith’s team of engineers and contractors used design-build delivery to modernize Stonington’s wastewater system. Significant upgrades to all three facilities were carried out with extensive collaboration between engineers, contractors, operators and owner – and no disruption to service in this picturesque seaside town during high peak periods.
