Tower cranes flying materials for a high-rise in the downtown skyline. Excavators and loaders moving dirt and installing pipe along the side of the road. Bridges flying over a freeway one berm at a time. What is it that attracts people to the architecture/engineering/construction industry? Is it seeing those construction projects in action? If so, what aspects of that work entice someone to think about making that a career? At what age do those scenes resonate enough for someone to even start daydreaming about the industry?

Announcement of Intent to Issue a Request for Qualifications for Progressive Design-Build Services
Owner: Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District Project: Paddy’s Run Flood Pump Station Capacity Upgrade
The Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) intends to issue a request for qualifications (RFQ) soliciting statements of qualifications (SOQs) from qualified teams to provide progressive design-build services for the Paddy’s Run Flood Pump Station Capacity Upgrade Project. Subsequent to issuing the RFQ and receiving SOQs, MSD plans to short-list to a maximum of three of the most qualified teams and to issue request for proposals (RFP) to those teams.
Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chair Tom Carper (D-Del.) said he plans to pass two major infrastructure bills out of his committee by Memorial Day. Carper, speaking at a press conference on Feb. 9, 2021, said he would hold a hearing later this month on a surface transportation reauthorization package "with a strong climate title" and would immediately also set to work on a water resources legislation.
Carper said the committee would focus on water infrastructure legislation and intends to advance a version of the Water Resources Development Act by the end of May. He noted the committee has two nominations to consider — Brenda Mallory's to lead the White House Council on Environmental Quality and Janet McCabe's to be deputy administrator at EPA — but he did not provide a time frame for doing so.
The Water Design-Build Council stands ready to contribute its expertise, resources, innovation, and enthusiasm to the challenge of strengthening our water and wastewater infrastructure.
