WDBC Releases 2019 Annual Report
While 2020 continues to bring all of us many challenges in dealing with a worldwide pandemic, the Water Design-Build Council filled 2019 with many proud accomplishments that we are continuing to build on in spite of the setbacks brought on by COVID-19. The WDBC aims to transform the water industry through advocacy, education, and research. Download our annual report to see the highlights of our mission.
Message from WDBC President Larry Johnson, PE, DBIA, PMP
The Water Design-Build Council is excited about the launch of our most recent research study entitled “Collaborative-Delivery Project Experience – Successes & Challenges.” During the second half of 2020, Ken Rubin of Rubin Mallows Worldwide and Mike Sessions of BYU – Idaho, along with a distinguished advisor panel, will be taking a deeper dive into the experiences of up to three dozen water and wastewater utility owners throughout the U.S. to explore their experiences with collaborative-delivery methods, including construction management at-risk, progressive design-build, and fixed-price design-build. During this 2020 pilot study project we will be dipping into just a sample of large, medium, and small municipal owners over a wide geographical area who have experienced successful and challenging projects of a variety of sizes. Next year we plan to expand and enhance the study based on the feedback we get from owners this year. Results from our 2020 pilot study will be available during the first quarter of 2021. Stay tuned for more exciting news from the WDBC!
Water/wastewater projects are becoming larger and more complex. Our industry is continuously innovating to maximize the productivity of existing and new plants. Recent events related to the COVID-19 outbreak may have permanent changes in the way plants are designed and built. The design and procurement process for collaborative-delivery projects requires early involvement of supply chain partners to reduce risks for a successful proposal and construction.
