WDBC Project Spotlight – New Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Improves Capacity for the U.S. Army

Highlights:

  • The Anniston Army Depot constructed a $40 million, one-million-gallon-per-day (gpd) industrial wastewater treatment facility that reduced the discharge of contaminated water to a Central Alabama waterway.
  • The new facility nearly doubled the depot’s industrial wastewater processing capacity to 600,000 gpd.
  • The facility’s treatment process was improved through the installation of modern equipment and controls and expansion capabilities to one million gpd to support future mission requirements.
  • The new facility successfully meets National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements.
