Another great session is on the schedule for this week’s Water and Wastewater Design-Build Conference focusing on the reasons owners select certain types of procurement methods for their projects.

Today's owners have an increasing variety of procurement methods to choose from for their capital improvements. To address the area of selecting design-build procurement strategies, the owner panelists will share their unique methods for procuring their work and how they quantified their reasons for selecting design-build. As they share why design-build was chosen, you will hear more about the challenges and their solutions, the expectations and results, and the criteria they identified and analyzed to measure success. At the conclusion of this panel discussion, owners and practitioners will be able to identify critical evaluation factors to select the right procurement process; and participants will be able to identify the unique factors that are important to a project’s success. Two design-build practitioners – one with a designer’s perspective and one with a contractor’s perspective will moderate the session.

What’s the Next Research Project for the Water Design-Build Industry?

Ever wonder how research topics originate?  Now is your chance to learn and be part of the process.

Leofwin Clark, WDBC President (Ch2M) and Steve Gates, WDBC 2^nd Vice President (Brown and Caldwell)  will be chairing a special session at the conference this week.

This session will engage conference attendees with essential questions about the research needs in the water infrastructure industry. The purpose of this discussion is to examine the information gaps that exist in the water infrastructure industry as well as stimulate research ideas that will improve upon the collaborative delivery models.

This session presents a unique opportunity to have a “hands-on” role in influencing the direction of WDBC’s 2016 research program by using an automated audience response system. Five sets of questions will be presented to participants. The results of the dialogue will be shown in “real-time” on the screen and then used to further drill down to determine how the information gleaned from the research either, achieves improving upon best practices, or facilitates innovation.
