New Case Study: LANL (New Mexico) Successfully Reclaims Its Sanitary Effluent

In 2010, the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) received a federal mandate to achieve a zero discharge of is sanitary wastewater in order to protect and maintain the wetlands located within the existing discharge area. Complicating this situation is that LANL found itself in the position of having to purchase the clean potable water it requires for the super computers cooling towers from the city; as the existing onsite facility used for cleaning the processed wastewater had been out of service for a long period of time, with no staff to operate or maintain.

With the help of HDR, LANL's laboratory facilities project to upgrade its existing reclamation facility and relating infrastructure was a great success.
