Water Design-Build Council – NEWS UPDATES

  • New Research Study Launched

  • New  Allied Member Category for Unique, Specialized Engineering Firms

WDBC Launches New Research Study

Throughout December, utility executives/administrators and project management staff will be directly interviewed about the lessons learned and various experience they had during their design-build projects. The study being conducted by the University of Nevada’s, Department of Engineering focuses on topics such as project procurement, and the overall design and construction process.  It is expected to be completed in early 2015.

What does WDBC want to learn from this study? The industry needs to continuously understand how it can make improvements in its work and support municipal owners in accomplishing their projects. Participants in the study are being randomly selected; however, if there are individuals desiring to provide input into this work, please contact the UNLV Project Manager, Pramen Shrestha at pramen.shrestha@unlv.edu, or the WDBC office.

Project Managers Education and Training for Design-Build Projects

Is your organization considering the steps needed for a water or wastewater project – and seeking to identify the best delivery method to achieve your goals and priorities? Or have you been given approval to initiate a search or RFP for a contractor for some facet of your water or wastewater system? If so, this is an ideal time to “pause” and take advantage of an important Education/Training Workshop offered by the Water Design-Build Council on “Preparing, Procuring and Managing a Design-Build Project.

WDBC’s goal is to equip public officials, managers and staff with the essential knowledge they need to use in the development of solutions and execution of capital projects for the rehabilitation and replacement of the water infrastructure..

Arrangements for an education session are made through the WDBC Office by contacting Linda Hanifin Bonner, PH.D., CAE, WDBC Executive Manager by phone at 410-798-0842 or 443-995-2285 or via email at lhanifin@waterdesignbuild.org.

New WDBC Allied Member Category for Unique, Specialized Engineering Firms

New for 2014, the WDBC Allied Member category is directed to those engineering firms reporting less than $20 million in annual revenues for water and wastewater services, as well as firms who are either currently working on – or have the capability to work in some capacity on – design-build or CMAR water projects. Our members report that they annually gain significant industry recognition and value as well as a return on their investment from WDBC’s work.

Learn more about the Allied Member program by going to the WDBC website or contacting the office directly at 410-798-0842.
