WDBC Issues 2013 Annual Report

….. summarizing the Council's accomplishments in the areas of research, education and best practices for collaborative project delivery.

From WDBC's 2013 President, Pat Gallagher (CDMSmith): With 2013 concluded, we take great pride in the key developments concerning the WDBC’s role in supporting collaborative project delivery in the water industry:

  • Most importantly, we have seen, over the past year, a big increase in demand for WDBC products. The collaborative delivery marketplace - due in part to WDBC activities - is experiencing greater interest among municipal owners.
  • Second, new research conducted in 2013 identified common impediments to greater use of collaborative project delivery, providing fertile ground for the targeting of WDBC efforts in 2014 and beyond. We will address these topics in 2014
  • Third, WDBC has begun to put in place a mutually-beneficial working relationship with the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), thereby expanding the WDBC’s reach and distribution of our educational and research products.

As described in the 2013 Annual Report, it is evident that the wide variety of WDBC activity across the United States is having positive impacts on owners and practitioners in the collaborative project delivery marketplace. WDBC Project Spotlight – Parsons DC Tunnel Project

The District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water) is implementing its Long Term Control Plan (LTCP) for the District’s combined sewer system. Learn more about a new design-build contract awarded to a joint venture including WDBC member Parsons for construction of Division H of the Anacostia River Tunnels, the second tunnel contract of the Clean Rivers Project.
