WDBC Launches 2015 Education Module Updates

At the recent September 24th Education and Training Session in Maryland, WDBC launched updates to its ongoing training modules. These updates and changes integrate information derived from the WDBC's 2015 Research Report on the Lessons Learned by Owners Using Design-Build Project Delivery. Key features include a new matrix on “managing risk,” steps to take to ensure a stress free “transition” process, and how to select the delivery method that adheres to your project drivers. Your agency or organization can also sponsor a similar program for your area.

Contact the WDBC office to schedule a session for your agency.

Special Design-Build Project Spotlight Coming Soon: Valuable Energy Resources from the World's Largest Design-Build Solids Processing Project

Here in the Washington, DC area, the world’s largest design-build project is currently underway: a $470M Biosolids Program at the DC Water’s Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant (AWTP). WDBC members Brown & Caldwell lead this project, with CDM Smith and others involved.

The Biosolids Management Program (BMP) will transform DC Water’s current Class-B lime-stabilization processing system into a Class A (pathogen-free) system, which will couple thermal hydrolysis (using the CambiTM process) with anaerobic digestion. The cleaned digester biogas will then be used to power a 13-mw combined heat and power plant. The system will be the largest Class A solids processing facility in the world.

A New Website with Unparalleled Educational Resources
