Collaborative Delivery of Water and Wastewater Projects

Advancing Project Success and Avoiding Failure

How do owners define success (and failure)? Are there key steps in the project delivery process that lead to success if managed well or failure if managed poorly? In 2020, the WDBC Research Committee initiated a two-phase project to better understand the elements of successful collaborative delivery projects in the water and wastewater sector. Phase I data is now available.

Read on to discover:

  • Why successful collaborative delivery projects met or exceeded owners ’expectations for project performance, cost, and/ or completion time

  • How nearly all owners defined success

  • General recommendations to improve collaborative delivery processes based on this research

  • The control points that can lead to success or failure
