As interest in the use of design-build delivery methods increases, so do the questions. How do you decide which delivery method is best suited for your project? What are the initial steps in pursuing a collaborative delivery approach? What is the difference between CMAR, design-bid-build, and progressive methods? What do prescriptive and performance mean in a fixed-price design-build project?
Using the Water and Wastewater Design-Build Delivery Handbook as their guide, WDBC’s lead instructors Mark Alpert and Linda Hanifin Bonner take participants through the actual steps in this process. Have you read the “Lessons Learned by Owners” research report? This study highlights what a difference attending an education program can make on a project.
WDBC brings the education and experiential learning program to you. Contact us to schedule a session for 2018.

– About Water Design-Build Projects
Interviews are currently being conducted by the WDBC research team to identify water/wastewater utility owners' reasons for using each of the collaborative delivery methods - fixed-price, progressive, and construction management at-risk (CMAR). Combined with data being collected from selected industry firms on projects performed or underway in 2017-2018, this information will be the basis for our 2018 research report. All data collected is confidential and names are not used without permission. Owners who would like to participate in a 30-45-minute interview are asked to contact Linda Hanifin Bonner at the WDBC office.
In addition, keep an eye on your inbox for a brief survey developed by the research team of Rubin Mallows Worldwide that will solicit input from owners and industry practitioners.
Demand for Education and Products Grew Significantly in 2017
WDBC’s newly released 2017 Annual Report highlights the growth in the use of educational materials such as the PDB, CMAR, and FPDB procurement guides and the need to continue with this valuable work. WDBC’s education mission is focused on responding to industry needs – and is the sole direction pursued by its members.
